Funny My Way focuses on breaking boundaries in comedy and honors the Black comedy icons that shattered barriers by boldly defining themselves beyond the limitations of their time. Using interviews and archival clips from TV shows, comedy albums, and talk shows, our host, J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), dives into the life and career of a different comedy icon each episode – reframing their accomplishments in terms of their continued relevance, their essential influence, and the fight for equal rights in the present day. Produced by Team Coco and AYR Media, this docu-series celebrates the lives and work of comedy greats, Dick Gregory, Redd Foxx, Moms Mabley, Flip Wilson, Rudy Ray Moore, and Paul Mooney, whose outsized influence is still seen in today’s most iconic Black comics. The podcast features interviews and commentary from additional comedians and writers.
